Getting your car ready to sell in Victoria
A detail is the biggest visual upgrade for the money, but buyers also look for proof the car has been looked after. Before you list:
- Get your Roadworthy Certificate (RWC). In Victoria you need a current RWC to transfer registration to a buyer. We don’t issue RWCs, so book one with a licensed tester.
- Gather service records and both keys. A full logbook builds instant trust.
- Photograph straight after your detail in soft daylight: front three-quarter, side, rear, dash, seats and boot.
- Fix small things like blown globes and warning lights before buyers spot them.

How much does pre-sale car detailing cost?
Our pre-sale detail starts from $400. The final price depends on your car’s size and condition. Text us a few photos and we’ll give you a fixed price before we start.
What’s included in a pre-sale detail?
An exterior hand wash and decontamination, a machine cut and polish, a full interior vacuum, steam cleaning of carpets and upholstery, leather or fabric cleaning, dash and trim detailing, wheels and tyres, and glass inside and out.
How long does pre-sale car detailing take?
Most cars take 3-5 hours depending on size and condition. Drop it off in the morning and pick it up the same day, ready to photograph and list.
Is a pre-sale detail worth it?
For most private sellers, yes. A clean, glossy car photographs better, attracts more buyers and gets fewer lowball offers, so the detail often pays for itself.
Can a cut and polish remove all scratches?
A cut and polish removes light scratches, swirl marks and oxidation. Deeper scratches that have gone through the clear coat may need touch-up or panel repair.
Can you remove smells and stains?
Yes. Steam cleaning and extraction lift most stains and odours from carpets and seats, including food, coffee and pet smells. Heavy smoke or pet hair may need extra time, which we’ll quote upfront.
Do you issue Roadworthy Certificates?
No. In Victoria you need a Roadworthy Certificate from a licensed vehicle tester to transfer registration. We recommend getting the RWC and the detail done in the same week before you list.
Should I detail my car before trading it in?
Yes. Dealers price trade-ins partly on presentation. A clean, polished car makes a better first impression and gives you a stronger position to negotiate.
What’s the difference between waxing and ceramic coating?
Wax gives short-term shine and protection for weeks. Ceramic coating bonds to the paint and protects against UV, chemicals and water spots for years. For a car you’re keeping, ceramic coating is the better choice.
Do you offer a courtesy car?
Yes. Let us know when you book that you need a courtesy car and we’ll have it ready when you drop off.
